Communicating to teenagers
Most of you with teenagers will realise it is very hard, and some days totally impossible, to tell them anything – let alone what is ‘good’ for them. That’s why It’s my Turn to Cook works – it’s not you telling them - it’s Claire who is someone their age they can relate to. I feel vaguely uncomfortable saying that foods block your arteries, make you fat or gives you yuk skin! Or that too much junk food gives you a big bum. But I am assured this is totally politically correct if you are a teenager! Time to bow to their superior knowledge in this area and I am impressed with how it works. I have now seen firsthand many times how teenagers respond to this sort of message. They smirk, nod their head and agree – and guess what – they’ve just been engaged in a nutrition message!
